Welcome to the web pages of Eynsham Morris

Eynsham Morris have a proud tradition stretching back to the nineteenth century and probably beyond. We have some of the most exciting and flamboyant dances in the morris tradition, and a dancing style to match. We try to live up to Cecil Sharp's description from 1908 (above).

From the menu bar on the left you can find out where we're dancing, read about our long history, look at pictures and videos, and learn a bit about the dances. You can also find out about our home town, Eynsham. Contact us to find out more, to invite us to dance for you, or to join us.

Ken Sheffield

We're sorry to record the death in July 2017 of Ken Sheffield (pictured left, 1984), at the age of 86. Ken was a founder member of the team when it revived in 1979, and danced and played for us for several years. He had wide interests both in engineering and in country dance, and published many country dance books. He was well known on both sides of the Atlantic, and the Country Dance and Song Society in the USA has this biography of him

Eynsham morris workshops

Eynsham is famous for its long and unique tradition of English morris dancing.

All members must have lived in the village for some time in their life , making us one of only 3 sides in England to achieve this closeness and the cameraderie that goes with it.

If you would like to be part of that local tradition join us at our workshop evenings.

Keep it living!
